Scholarship for Pacific Island Students
The Pan-Pacific Surgical Association provides annual scholarships to students
from the Pacific Island nations who are attending the University of Hawaii John
A. Burns School of Medicine. As a way to ensure medical knowledge is transferred
to Pacific Island nations, one of the criteria for receiving a scholarship is
the commitment of applicants to return their native home to practice medicine.
The Pan-Pacific Surgical Association awarded $1,000 scholarships each to Brian
Carino and Robert Pangilinan, both third-year medical students at the University
of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
